The Villa
Built in the 1860's the house has been passed down the generations of the same Pelegrini family ever since being added to throughout. We acquired the house in 2004 renovating it in a sympathetic manner - keeping as many of the original features as possible.
Customary to the local historical development it is entirely built of stone - so internal ceilings have a domed appearance and floors are tiled.
At an altitude of 974m above sea level, Caporciano has a population of approx 300 inhabitants. It is 34Km from the Regions Capital - L'Aquila. Half an hour from the Adriatic Coast. Rome is an hour and a half away.
The Abruzzo lies almost wholly on the Adriatic side of the Italian Peninsular and stretches along the coast for some 130 Kilmetres with spectuacular beaches. The mountains of the Abruzzo are the highest in Italy with the mountains of Laga, Maiella and the The Gran Sasso mountains - the highest of the Apennine peaks - with its stark evocatively beautiful vast, high mountain plateau Campo Imperatore. The Gran Sasso sometimes called Italy's "little Tibet" they are frequently used as film and television backdrops. Also to be discovered is the storybook mountain village of Santo Stefano di Sessanio it is listed in Italy's top 100 most beautiful villages.
